Preventing head lice

We carry out regular checks for nits and head lice. If necessary, you should use the special lotions or shampoos to treat your children. Your local pharmacy or health and beauty retailer will advise you.

After each holiday, all the children are checked for nits and head lice. If lice are found in a group, the whole group is checked again after 3 weeks. Whenever a case of head lice is reported other than during the regular checks, the group(s) affected will also be checked again.

The team of volunteers that carries out the checks always needs more members. Please sign up to help keep the school free of headlice. For further information, contact juf Lantinga.

If we find head lice

If your child is found to have nits, the teacher will contact you by telephone.

If your child is found to have head lice, you will be called and asked to fetch your child from school immediately, to minimize the chance of them spreading.

As a precaution, we advise you to make a weekly habit of checking your own child’s head for nits and head lice (e.g. after they have showered) and combing their hair thoroughly with a special comb.
